In today’s trying times promoting Scouting is even more important to attracting new youth. Follow the links below to resources designed to provide you with our numerous recruitment tips, tools and materials to help you with recruitment. The council is happy to produce these materials for you in support of growing your unit or there are also many resources to create your own materials.

Recruitment Tools

Flyers - We can provide your unit flyers to send out to schools, churches, etc. We can also create a PDF of the completed flyer to send out electronically.

Stickers - We can provide your unit these stickers to use with scout talks in schools, open houses and other events to invite youth to join.

Posters - These 17x24 posters are great for schools, business, churches and other locations to promote your unit and invite youth to join.

Bookmarks - Make sure to request these customizable bookmarks that promotes reading and Scouting to utilize in your school libraries as well as community libraries.

New Parent Guide - Here is a guide you can send to your new parents that helps explain the Cub Scouting program.

BSA Brand Center - Here you can find many marketing tools that you can download and customize for your unit, including: Flyers, posters and peer-to-peer recruitment cards.

BeAScout.org - This website allows interested families to find a local scouting unit in their area. Make sure your unit information is up to date so families can find your unit. Directions on how to update your unit pin can be found here in this guide or by watching this video.

Selecting New Leaders - This pamphlet will assist you with best practices to select new leaders.

Yard Signs - The Abraham Lincoln Council will provide 2 yard signs for you to get the word out about your pack. Make sure your unit pin info is updated for BeAScout.org and we will give you three for you to use however you like.

Geocaching - The Abraham Lincoln Council will provide paid geocaching advertising promoting your sign up night for up to 2 events. Information must be submitted to the council 2 weeks in advance and will run for 7 days leading up to your sign up or event.

Program Resources

Scoutbook - Scoutbook is a wonderful must have tool that all units can use. Keep track of advancements, service hours, camping nights, scouts rank progress and calendars. If your unit hasn’t started Scoutbook yet log on today and get started. Did I mention it’s free.

Den Leader Experience - Ever had a den leader tell you that they don’t have enough time or have no idea how to plan a den meeting? The Den Leader Experience can show them the tools at their disposal. This tool can layout your den meetings for you, what supplies you need and when to do the activities. There is so much that it can do. Have your den leaders check out this video to learn more about the Den Leader Experience.

Zoom for Virtual Scouting - Here is a simple guide on how to set up a zoom meeting.

Online Training - Being a new leader can be daunting but there is online training for every adult position in the unit. These are broken down into modules so you can watch them in small bits when time allows. These trainings provide a solid basic foundation for the leader and answers many questions that first-time leaders usually have. For a breakdown of the modules click here.

Cub Scout Adventure Videos - These videos are tools that your Den Leaders can use that will help them grasp the ideas of the adventures for their dens. Watch and learn more about each adventure. Use them as a tool to help with virtual meetings. These are not meant to be a “den meeting in a video” but to be an additional tool for the leaders. Check them out today!
